The closing reception will take place on the 18th from 6:00 -

Among items to be exhibited are:
Jack-in-the-Box
- Elegant with a touch of whimsy, this Jack-in-the-box is
hand-carved from pearwood and bubinga to resemble a medieval circus
tent. The porcelain doll that pops out was created by Nipomo,
California doll maker, Mary Barrette. Frye inlaid each diamond
separately with a parquetry technique and created the hand-crank
that operates the piece. Frye spent 400 hours on this one-of-a-kind
creation that is fit for an emperor child.
Carved Gothic Cabinet
- Ken Frye created the intricate vine detailing of this cabinet
from one sold piece of walnut, necessitating great precision and
intensely detailed hand carving. It took him 350 hours to complete
this one-of-a-kind piece. Frye has exhibited his Gothic Display
Cabinet in Beverly Hills and San Francisco.
Inlaid
Love Letter Cabinet. This one-of-a-kind cabinet was created
to contain precious mementos and sacred objects. Ken Fryes
inspiration for the piece was a jester Ð the idea of which kept
him focused during the incredible 550 hours it took him to complete
the project. The jester image influenced the harlequin motif,
which is inlaid in English Sycamore. The hinges and key were hand-forged
by Frye himself. The cabinet has been on display in East Hampton,
Long Island.
The RiskPress Gallery is at 8533 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.
Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00
p.m., Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
